Its been a day since the e27-TechCrunch meet-up with Nik Cubrilovic and the Singapore startup and web technology community. Honestly, am still having a hangover from the event and am both tired and refreshed. Tired because of the non-stop talking and exchange of ideas, discussions about latest startups and keeping track of startups and projects that everyone is working on. Refreshed BECAUSE of the non-stop talking and exchange of ideas, discussions about latest startups and keeping track of startups and projects that everyone is working on. Seriously, this little red dot is starting to be a force to reckon with in Southeast Asia.
With Singaporean startups slowly and surely appearing on the global radar(in few months you will know why) it’s not surprising that many entrepreneurs are coming down here to invest and start their own incubators. Leaving aside the fact that Singapore provides a global gateway to the Chinese market, Singapore also provides myriad funding schemes to initiate and propel further people to take the path of entrepreneurship. Though there is some skepticism floating about such schemes, there is no denying the fact that such initiatives have provided a much-needed push in the right direction for startups. iJam, TECS, YES! are some of these funding scheme that let first time entrepreneurs bootstrap their company.
Nik, whose initial stay was scheduled for 2 days, got his trip extended and is well on its way to getting further extended, all thanks to the sheer number of interesting startups here. He chatted up with the cool startups under garag3 and was suitably impressed with their technologies.

Various other startups featured in our previous unConference’s also got a chance to strut their interesting products to him. With Google-inspired idea boards, by plastering the walls with mahjong paper, we were able to have creative discussion on some crazy concepts concoted by people.
The meet-up was truly a positive gauge of the vibrancy of entrepreneurial community in Singapore. An impromptu session organised in 24 hrs, with only 50 slots open, for which more than 70 people turned up and we of course, embraced them with open arms. I don’t know if everyone got a chance to meet with him or not, but we sure know that Nik and e27 had a total blast and here’s to all you guys who came, saw and shared ideas!:)
