Microsoft Mash-It-Up Competition

In Microsoft’s upcoming Mash-It-Up competition, participating teams compete against one another to create the most compelling mash-up in 24 hours using Microsoft’s Popfly™ technology.  The winning team stands to win the top prize of a trip to Microsoft’s Redmond campus + a 3-month student internship with Microsoft Singapore.

Sounds like it’s just another competition?  But wait, there’s more!  There is, in fact, a twist to the plot.

This competition has a focus on creativity and interaction, thus encouraging the participants to collaborate between teams.  This literally forces them to get out of their box to interact with other teams to collaborate and exchange information from each others mash-up blocks.  In doing so, the teams that work more together stand to gain more points!  The more of other teams’ blocks that you use in your mash-up and the more teams that use your blocks, the more points you will get.

This concept promotes discussion and sharing of ideas between participants, inspiring them to think unconventionally.  This is an assurance that everybody stands to gain fresh ideas and perspectives to take home with them, and nobody leaves empty handed!
